With limited time to read fantasy series at the moment, I’m
turning to short stories to keep reading and to find new authors. I searched
the internet but many e-zines were no longer active. But I did find these two: Lightspeed
and Clakesworld Magazine.
Lightspeed is presented by Orbit and has 4 fantasy and 4 sci fi stories in each issue. They also post
online the stories for you to read. You can then purchase or even listen to
them. It caters to more than one kind of readers. The website looks wonderful
and is user friendly.
Clarkesworld Magazine has won the Hugo Reward for Best
Semiprozine for 2010 and 2011. It features 3 pieces of fiction, 3 pieces of
non-fictions, and podcasts of the of each fiction piece. It covers more than
the fiction side by discussing elements within the genre. It a nice
fit for those who want little fiction and non-fiction together. They post the stories online and purchase a subscribe as well.
If anyone happens to know zines that regularly have epic/high
fantasy, please leave a comment. And let us know your favorite e-zine!
